Cultural Studies maven, Laura Mulvey, critical theory's conceptual imagineer, she who deciphered the vagaries of the male gaze, is exiled from this movie theatre as Salma Hayek, here borrowed from a series of Campari adult beverage ads, holds court semiotically front and center for a gaggle of male admirers. Mextasy maintains that the hidden spectator must always be outed and this cautionary semiotic allegory outs the visually fixed perps in living black and white.
