Thanks to all the Cool Gente of Boulder and Denver for an Amazing MEXTASY Show!

Warm thanks to Arturo Aldama, profe extraordinaire, for curating a remarkable visit/show at the University of Colorado, Boulder--it was a big honor for me to be part of the "Decolonial Borderlands Distinguished Speakers Series" for the Department of Ethnic Studies there and I am grateful for the warm welcome and the brilliant folks I got to work with there in Colorado!

Here's the rest of the gallery, featuring cool art explosions by guest Chicana/o artists:

Talking #BrownTV: Latinas and Latinos on the Screen

Now in print and out in the wild? talking #browntv: latinas and latinos on the screen! Order now!

talking #browntv is a new critical romp focused on Latinxers in Television, Film and streaming media from the twin fused-minds of William Nericcio and Frederick Luis Aldama! Hit the image-link above to scoop up a copy via OSU Press (and, sadly, make Jeff Bezos even more money, via Amazon) or, mucho mas better? Click here to get it directly from me at a discount with free swag (two #mextasy posters! my autograph!) to boot.

Chicanx / Latinx 21st Century Semiotics! (Not Semi-Idiotics!)

Chihuahuas, though utterly high-strung, are easy to please!

Take Tex[t]-Mex's salesdog, perrito "Don Chepe" here: all you have to do to bring a smile to the little vato's face is to click him! What happens next is magical! You'll be instantly teleported to Amazon.com where you can buy William "Memo" Nericcio's desmadre-filled book on "Mexicans" in the United States and beyond: Tex[t]-Mex: Seductive Hallucinations of the "Mexican" in America.

If Amazon is too too corporate for you--'hot,' recently-divorced calvo, Jeff Bezos, not the apple of your eye, then go here to the Mextasy online poster tienda/shop and snap up a much more reasonably priced, signed/autographed copy of Tex[t]-Mex (just email Bill Nericcio at memo@sdsu.edu and tell him who to make the book out to...).

Oh! and get this... FREE SHIPPING and two free Mextasy posters!

When you buy the book via the Mextasy shoppe you'll receive two free gift posters (our choice but we're open to emailed suggestions) and you will have made lil' Don Chepe tremendously happy!

What is ¡MEXTASY!

Mextasy: Seductive Hallucinations of Latina/o Mannequins Prowling the American Unconscious is a traveling art show/exhibit based on the work of William "Memo" Nericcio and Guillermo Nericcio García. Mextasy both reflects and expands upon Nericcio's 2007 book with UT Press, Tex[t]-Mex: Seductive Hallucinations of the Mexican in America. In addition to racist artifacts from American mass culture (the bread and butter of Uncle Sam's unconscious), the show also features works that "xicanosmotic," that is, works by Mexican-American artists where the delicious tattoo of the Mexican/US frontera is writ large as in the deliriously delicious semiotic tracings of Perry Vasquez, Izel Vargas, and Marisela Norte.

The traveling show has previously toured at Adrian College, UCLA, Ann Arbor, Michigan at the University of Michigan; San Ysidro, California (as Xicanoholic) at theFront, Casa Familiar; McAllen, Texas at South Texas College's Pecan campus Art Gallery; Laredo, Texas at the the Laredo Center of the Arts; at a April 8, 2011 opening at the Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies, University of Hawai'i at Manoa; at the Fullerton Public Library with Gustavo Arellano hosting, at San Antonio College for a Tex[t]-Mex reading/signing and an exclusive South Texas MEXTASY exhibition (September 22, 2011), and at CMAS, the University of Texas at Austin. In late 2011, Mextasy traveled to the University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, and to Western University, London, Ontario. It's latest exhibition will be at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Mextasy was originally curated by South Texas College (STC) Art and Art History Professor Rachael Freyman Brown, with the assistance of Amanda Alejos (not to mention the meddling of the artist, Guillermo Nericcio García).
