XICANOSMOSIS (PEE-WEE HERMAN AND EL CHAVO DEL OCHO), DIGITAL PRINT, ©2008

Xicanosmosis (Pee-wee Herman and El Chavo del Ocho), digital print, ©2008--11x17 digital print on glossy archival stock shipped media mail, signed and numbered, folded once.

"Xicanosmosis" is one of the the various and sundry theories included within the covers of Tex[t]-Mex: Seductive Hallucinations of the "Mexican" in America. The word, a mash-up of Chicano/a and Osmosis posits a borderland between Mexico and the United States that is utterly porous, with transactions of essential body (cultural) fluids flowing both ways, north and south, and more.

Pee-wee Herman and El Chavo del Ocho, Paul Reubens and Roberto Gómez Bolaños, children, to be sure, but children somehow transvested (in the strict sense), be-costumed adults portraying "children" of a sort.

In any event, this strange coincidence fuels Bill Nericcio's research and his digital art confabulations.
